Privacy policy for ZeitStift

1. Data controller

2. General principle

Protecting your data matters to me. ZeitStift is designed to be used without an account and without sending personal work data to the developer or third parties.

ZeitStift does not use its own servers or its own analytics or tracking services.

3. Data stored locally

The data you enter in ZeitStift is stored locally on your device. This may include, in particular, recorded working hours, categories, classes and courses, projects, sick days and school holidays, and app settings.

Work data is stored in the local App Group container. The App Group enables data exchange between ZeitStift and its associated Control Centre controls on the same device. Certain settings, such as the colour scheme or selected German federal state, are also stored locally.

This work data is not sent to the developer of ZeitStift or to third parties.

4. No cloud sync

ZeitStift currently does not provide its own cloud sync. In particular, ZeitStift does not use iCloud to synchronise the data stored in the app with other devices.

Depending on the device settings, however, locally stored app data may be included in a device backup or iCloud backup provided by Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to this backup and its processing.

5. Exporting data

ZeitStift allows you to manually export certain data, for example as a PDF, CSV or backup file.

Data is exported only at the user's express request. The generated file is shared using the sharing function provided by iOS. The user chooses which app or service receives the exported file. The selected service's privacy policy applies to any further processing by that service.

6. Analytics, diagnostics, tracking and advertising

ZeitStift does not use its own analytics or tracking services and does not include such services or software components from third parties. The app does not independently send usage or analytics data to the developer.

As part of the App Store and operating system, Apple may provide aggregated usage and diagnostic data, as well as crash reports. For apps installed through the App Store in the usual way, this depends on the user's analytics and privacy settings. Apple processes this information and generally makes it available to the developer only in a form that does not allow individual users to be directly identified.

When using a prerelease version distributed through TestFlight, crash reports may be sent automatically to Apple and the developer.

ZeitStift does not use advertising networks, display personalised advertising or create user profiles for advertising purposes.

7. Pupil data and other personal information

ZeitStift allows you to enter names for classes, courses or projects. This information is stored exclusively on the device.

ZeitStift does not send pupil data or other personal data entered by the user to the developer or to third parties. Users are responsible for complying with the data protection requirements that apply to them when entering personal data.

8. Retention and deletion

Locally stored data remains on the device until the user deletes it within the app or removes the app and its data from the device. Data in a device backup or an externally stored backup may remain until that backup is deleted.

As locally stored data is not sent to the developer, the developer has no access to it and can neither view it nor delete it on a server.
